In Kaohsiung of Taiwan, a mother hired a babysitter to take care of her baby. During the post-natal care period, the mother would ask the babysitter to feed her baby with the breast milk she just pumped. Any breast milk left was stored for her elder son. However, the babysitter drank them all herself, the mother found out.

Female employer Lin shared her experience with a babysitter online: During my post-natal care period, I hired a 58-year old babysitter to help me feed my baby every day. "One time, I asked her if there was any milk left, she told me she finished all that was left. So, I told her to keep the leftover for my son next time."

"However, she didn’t stop drinking the leftover breast milk and even lied to me afterwards. One time, I saw there was 40 to 50ml of milk left when the babysitter has fed my baby for nearly 40 minutes, before I went to my room to tidy up. After a few minutes, I went back to the living room to find there was no milk left. The babysitter claimed that the baby drank it all."

Lin got suspicious and checked the cctv at her home. As expected, the babysitter finished the breast milk when she went to her room.

Lin and her husband confronted the babysitter, but she argued that she just drank a little bit, and claimed that Lin agreed to let her drink before. “My breast milk is precious, why couldn’t I save it for my boy? And how dare you lie to me!” Lin scolded her.

The babysitter was later sent to Kaohsiung Municipal Government Social Bureau. According to Lin, the babysitter has now found a new job at a kindergarten. She is trying to raise public concern on this matter, and hopes no parents will encounter the same situation.
