Many graphic designers must have faced the situation that the clients requested to you to edit a large proportion of your work and thought it's a one-button thing to do. But when you follow the rules given by the clients, you may find those designs don't seem so right.
Cup Noodles, a famous brand of instant ramen noodle snack manufactured by NISSIN, has recently shared the drafts of an advertisement on Twitter about following the rules from their boss.
Below is the first draft of the advertisement.
Let's see what the comments from "the boss" are.
Comments:
- The dark hair of the model should carry the "cuttlefish juice" (another Cup noodles' favour) feeling and hair texture should be cheesy (product favour)
- Emphasize the feeling of "internet trending meal"
- The buildings of background should carry a farm feeling
- Think about the items that can show one's love of Milk Seafood favour Cup Noodles, other than humans
- Make the product more outstanding
- Model should smile a lot more (especially eyes and months)
With the comments, the designers did the edition and had the second draft. You can see the facial expression of the model is a little bit strange.
However, the thing doesn't end here. The boss marked his opinions on the second draft.

Comments:
- The feeling of "internet trending meal" is still too weak. Should also carry the feeling of future
- Change the white pigeon into the "Twitter" one
- The model should look at the product
- Sunny weather
- Add a gigantic e-brain in the background
- Add an alien jealous of people having Cup Noodles of Milk Seafood favour
- Add a child who enjoys having the internet
- The cow should run like horses
- The Panda eat Cup Noodles instead of bamboos! Change its face into a cow.
- Piggies are not related to the product; make them sleep
- Emphasize the chess favour
- Words don't block the product
- Put a notebook on model's right hand
- Bring out the message "wine and the product are perfect matches"
- Add snow layers since it's a winter limited favour
- Greens don't carry winter feelings
That's the last copy posted on Twitter. Would this be the last version of the advertisement? Maybe we'll know later!
Some netizens say this is another way to promote their product in order to emphasize its features. How about you? What is your comment towards this advertisement?
