The Potala Palace in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, was recently repainted.
A total of more than 300 volunteers participated in the painting using 92 tons of natural pigments.
Differing from the paint on other buildings, the coating for the palace's wall is a mix of milk, sugar, honey, herbs, as well as local special white lime.
The painting helped strengthen the building's construction and protect against rain.
