On Saturday, dancers and musicians from different ethnic groups gathered to perform for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Situated in northwest Guangxi, Huanjiang is the only autonomous county for Maonan people, who have taken up residence in the mountainous region for generations.

Currently, a total of 60000 Maonan people live in the autonomous county, accounting for 60 percent of the ethnic group’s population in China.

During the celebration, dancers performed the Maonan’s traditional ritual dance ‘feitao’, an intangible cultural heritage of the country.
