Few deer jump from bridge to their deaths

A very wired and scary phenomenon that a few deer jumped over the 80th Street SW bridge over US Highway 30 in Cedar Rapids has been captured by a driver, Catherine Veerhusen.

In the video the driver posted on Facebook, a buck runs quickly across the roadway and leaps over the block of the bridge and others bucks follow. All of them hit the ground and died.

Catherine was shocked to speechless and said she had never seen anything like this. Except the video, she also posted an image of the deer right before the jump and the animals on the ground under the bridge.

Ron Lane, a conservation officer with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, thinks the deer were unfamiliar with the area because the 80th Street SW bridge is new and panicked to them.

He added that hunting season may have caused the leaving of their natural habitats.
