Huang You-kang, the 1-year-old from Chongqing, China, has suffered from skin cancer since birth. Black spots could be found on his body, particularly on his head, face and bottom.
His mom brought him to various hospitals in the city but none agreed to provide treatment. She later contacted hospitals in Shanghai and Beijing, but was told that nothing could be done because of his age.
With the help of volunteers, she successfully contacted a British hospital. But her husband could not accompany them due to a recent car accident. She said it would cost her over 1 million RMB (HK$1.2 million), adding that she would take care of her son even though the disease might not be curable.
Before heading to Britain, she posted a video of her son on Weibo, and ended on a positive note.
