26-year-old Dmitry Grachyov has been married to Margarita for five years and they have two children. Since Grachyov suspected Margarita was having an affair, he took her to the countryside and threatened to chop off her fingers with an axe to force her admission. However, his wife insisted in the denial. Grachyov went mad and cut off both of Margarita's palms.
Instead of escaping, Grachyov drove his wife to the hospital and confessed to the police. The hospital conducted a nine-hour surgery to try to reconnect the two palms. Since her right palm was cut into too small pieces, nothing could be done. The left palm was reconnected but left with many scars.
Her attending physician said staff were shocked by the case. He believes it was definitely not done by someone normal. He could not look at the photo of Margarita's bloody hands without preparing himself psychologically beforehand.
Grachyov was arrested by the police. The relatives of Margarita said Grachyov had threatened to kill her and she called the police for help as well. But the police closed the case after questioning.
