It might suffocate due to the tire! Emergent rescue!

A crocodile has been spotted to carry a motorbike tire around its neck since 2016 in a river of Indonesia's Palu.

A recent video shot by a local showed the 13 feet reptile floated on the water and opened its mouth for air. Locals have been worrying the tire is killing the creature.

Conservationists believe someone may have deliberately placed the tire around the protected animal’s neck in bid to trap it as a pet.

Head of the local conservation agency Haruna said: ‘In the past year, we saw that there’s still enough room for the crocodile’s neck to move around. But we are not going to wait until the tire strangles the animal. We will rescue it.’

But the agency lacked the proper equipment to rescue the animal. They even could not locate the animal once it goes into the river.

Haruna said his team has placed an iron trap which would be placed inside the river when the water level is low and hope to control the animal to help it.
