'This poor family paid $125 for their pet to be murdered in front of them. There is no excuse for the pain this family is suffering.' a witness said.

A family lost their ten-month-old French Bulldog puppy after following an attendant's instruction to put it in the overhead bin of plane.has died after a United Airlines flight attendant allegedly told the dog's owner to put it in the overhead compartment.

The tragedy happened in United Flight 1284, from Houston to New York on Mar 12. The mother took her puppy Papacito in its carrier on board.

But according to a witness passenger June Lara,  a member of the flight crew said the animal should go in the overhead bins.

'They INSISTED that the puppy be locked up for three hours without any kind of airflow. They assured the safety of the family's pet so wearily, the mother agreed.' Lara wrote in a post.

However, the mother opened the luggage after three hours, finding her puppy had died. She tried to resuscitate it but only cried over its carcass.

United Airlines has confirmed the instruction is a mistake! 'This was a tragic accident that should never have occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin,' United stated.

The Airlines have apologized for the 'accident' and assumed' full responsibility'. They stated that 'all animals traveling inside the cabin should be in a carrier and 'fit completely under the seat in front of the customer and remain there at all times.'
