Judge Paul Dugdale said this is not sort of dangerous driving but a serious mistake which had tragic consequences since the grandma didn't deliberately make the decision to drive badly.
A terrifying footage shows a car crashed into pedestrians, killing one man while a 68-year-old grandma mistakenly slammed her foot on the accelerator instead of the brake.
The grandmother, Sall, killed 44-year-old Sonata Saulytyte, who has been visiting her niece, when crashing the car on the roadside, hurting a few people. Sall has been jailed 28 months in Reading, Berkshire in December 2016.
According to the Reading Crown Court, the grandma slams into railings and avoids the bus before stopping its tracks.
Prosecutor Alan Blake said the defendant got out of her car with her hands on her head.
He said she was looking for something in the boot of her car and made comments saying her brakes had failed. He added she said to those around her that the body under the rubble was already there and that she hadn’t done anything wrong.
He insisted the incident happened since the defendant had lost her brakes. It was also noted that she wasn’t wearing her prescription glasses that her licence said she should.
A 20-year-old man, who was having a lunch break at the time, got survived the crash but received serious injuries to both legs.
The court heard Sall was driving at 30mph when the "phenomenon of unintended acceleration" caused her to swerve, narrowly avoiding the bus in front of her before mounting the pavement.

"Nobody will come out of this case as a winner. I have read the tragic victim statement and whatever I pass today will not bring back someone’s aunt," said Judge Dugdale.
He also said whatever sentence he passed would be harsh for a 68-year-old grandmother having five children and 10 grandchildren.
