Distracted by playing button tattoo, doctor almost performs operation wrong

He said after his surgery, "My parents had said to me that the tattoo would one day teach me a lesson, but I didn't expect it would be like this."

A British man had a surgery on his shoulder at St. George's Hospital in London, but his "playing button" tattoo near his chest was almost mistakenly recognised by the doctor as a surgical indication to be cut off at.

According to the report from British Medical Journal, the 23-year-old tattooed patient has brought a great mess to the operation room since the playing button led a confusion over the surgical symbol to the doctor.

He said after his surgery, "My parents had said to me that the tattoo would one day teach me a lesson, but I didn't expect it would be like this."

The report also raised that the case is a reminder for doctors to prepare well for an operation. According to the photo, only one arrow mark has been drawn on the man's arm.

They suggested that the team should tell the patient is with tattoos to avoid doctors cutting wrongly.
