Alligator crawls on Orlando airport runway causing flight delay

A wild alligator was spotted on an airport runway after a pilot landed the flight from Baltimore to Orlando International Airport in early Monday morning.

The passengers were told to wait for a moment because the reptile made a trouble for the plane to get to the gate.

"Believe it or not, we have to wait for an alligator that's in the middle of the runway," the pilot said.

Anthony Velardi, who took the footage, witnessed the scene clearly on the plane.

"Only in Florida... a gator held up our Spirit Airlines plane crossing the runway at MCO on the way home from (the) DC (area)..." posted on Anthony's Facebook.

Airport officials arranged a truck to send the alligator to a nearby pond. When the animal was out of the runway, the plane continued its move.

The cases of alligators crossing airport runways and other roads bodies of water sometimes happen in Florida.
