Father accidentally mistakenly shots 6-year-old daughter to death, thinking gun unloaded

He made a mistake that can never be forgiven, even himself.

A father from Washington County, Indiana, the USA shot death his daughter Makayla S. Bowling by accident when cleaning his handgun, mistakenly thinking it was unloaded.

The gun accidentally discharged and the father shot Makayla to her head. She was taken to a children’s hospital by air ambulance service but was pronounced dead eventually.

The state police said the incident remains under investigation. For now, the case has not been suspected of any murder or foul play, and authorities did not tell if any charge to the father would be brought.

Although with gun operating manual and gun training instructions telling one should ensure the gun unloaded before cleaning and place it in the safe pointing direction, statistics from Centers for Disease Control Prevention shows that dying from accidental gunshots is one of the main reasons of American people’s death. In 2015, 489 people died of discharged gunshots, in which up to 50 cases involved victims under 14 years old.
