Philippine girl grows two extra hands on abdomen for which she needs to cut their nails regularly

People may feel happy if there is a twin sibling who grows together with them. But what if the twin is with us all the time?

A 14-year-old girl born in the Philippines has two arms on her abdomen because the underdeveloped "twin" grows on her body.

The 14-year-old girl, Veronica, who lives in Iligan, Philippines, looks as same as other ordinary girls. But when looking closely, it can be noticed that her body, from the chest to the abdomen is slightly bloated. Her abdomen has two arms on which fingers and nails can be seen.

Veronica's abdomen has a prominent elliptical object with two arms of different lengths, two fingers each. Larger than others, her navel is usually shown as red sometimes with bloody liquid. The extra parts were actually the "twins" of Veronica but stopped developing during her mother's pregnancy.

Veronica's mother, Nanay Flora, said she didn’t get a checkup during pregnancy, but she was sure to be twins and had selected names for them. It was the grandmother of Veronica who delivered the child. She was not sure whether she had cut the umbilical cord correctly.

When Veronica was still a baby, people suggested her to remove the appendages from her body. Because of a lack of money, Veronica has been living with the "twin" for years, taking care of "her", keeping "her" clean, and even cutting her nails regularly. According to the doctor, the parasitic twins on the abdomen rely on the blood of Veronica to grow.

The doctor also suggested Veronica carry out an operation, but the bad economy of her family cannot afford the costs of surgery.
