The poor snake is in a really bad condition, suffering severely dehydrated, covered in mites and has four layers of shed skin piled up on its body. It was also found broken teeth, abscesses in the mouth and a respiratory infection.
It was at the edge of death while no one was willing to adopt him since its condition was extremely bad. It was suggested to die with euthanasia the first day when it was sent to the shelter.
Luckily, an animal rescuer JoAnn Wiltz heard the news and rushes to shelter and found Wendy. She adopted it and has been taking of it very carefully.
For the first month after JoAnn took it home, Wendy was so frail that it could barely eat on its own. JoAnn soaked in the bathtub, dried it off and rubbed vitamin E oil all over its body every three days. Every three days, she injected a shot of antibiotics under its scales.
It is a long journey of recovery, but Wendy successfully pulls through it. It now likes to cuddle with his foster mom with gratitude. After several week’s cures, Wendy has not fully healed but its color is slowly coming back and much brighter.
JoAnn intended to foster Wendy for only a while but now she and Wendy has established a closer relationship than ever. She begins to consider adopting it to be its last owner.
