Fires were reported in Malmö, Gothenburg and Helsingborg, where dozens of cars were set alight by gangs of masked youths on Monday evening.
The terrifying footage captured by users and posted on social media shows the arsonists targeting vehicles in the parking lot of a shopping centre and hospital at Frölunda Torg, south-west of Stockholm.
Authorities are investigating whether the various blazes which broke out in close succession were related. Multiple videos show that the fires were started by people dressed in all-black clothing with Molotov cocktails.
The largest gang apparently gathered north of Göteborg in Trollhättan, where as many as 40 people amassed to throw stones and start fires. Additionally, reports were also made of similar situations in Hjällbo and Malmö.

Emergency services were tackling the apparent outbreak of violence with no injuries reported, Swedish police said. "Identification of young people was ongoing." However, it is unclear if any arrests have been made.
"While most fires started within a short period of time, it can not be excluded that there is a connection between the fires, the case will be investigated,' the authorities say.
This incident comes just three weeks before the Swedish general election.
