Hardik Pandya took 5-28 as England lost 10 wickets in one session to be bowled out for 161 before tea on the second day of the third test against India on Sunday.

India will take a lead of 168 runs into the second innings, having been dismissed for 329 about an hour into day two after losing its last four wickets for six runs.

The Indians are 2-0 down in the five-match series.

England failed to build on the strong start from openers Alastair Cook (29) and Keaton Jennings (20), slumping from 54-0 to 129-9 after lunch.

Jos Buttler (39) helped England get past the follow-on mark before being the last man out.

Captain Joe Root (16) had walked off shaking his head after the umpires ruled Lokesh Rahul got his hands under the ball to take a clean catch in the slips.

Earlier, resuming on 307-6, India added 22 runs to its overnight total with England pacemen Stuart Broad and James Anderson wrapping up the innings.

Broad bowled Rishabh Pant (24) and Ravichandran Ashwin (14) in successive overs, before Anderson took the final two wickets — Mohammed Shami (3) and Jasprit Bumrah (0) — in consecutive deliveries. Broad had 3-72 and Anderson 3-64.
