Around 20,000 runners competed at the 2024 Beijing Half Marathon on Sunday morning in the Chinese capital.

The runners started from the Tian'anmen Square, which is located in the heart of Beijing, headed eastwards, and finished at the Celebration Square of Beijing Olympic Park.

Competitor He Jie finished first in the men's group, clocking one hour, three minutes and 44 seconds.

In the women's group, Liu Min dominated the top spot in one hour, 11 minutes and 12 seconds.

Since the registration opened on March 12, participants from 42 countries and regions had pre-registered, a record high.

Among them, male racers accounted for 74 percent, while female racers accounted for 26 percent.

More than 200 referees and 3,100 volunteers worked tirelessly to support the athletes and ensure smooth operation of the event.

As a mass sports event with a long history in China, the Beijing Half Marathon, which debuted in 1956, is now a grand festival for many long-distance runners.

China urges US to stop endangering cyberspace security

2024-04-30 01:00 Last Updated At:02:17

China urges the United States to abide by international rules and stop endangering peace, stability and security in cyberspace, said Lin Jian, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in Beijing on Monday.

Lin made the statement when responding to a question on a report titled "US Threats and Sabotage to the Security and Development of Global Cyberspace" released by the China Cybersecurity Industry Alliance on Sunday. The report shows that the US has long used its IT technology and resource advantages to engage in irresponsible behavior in cyberspace.

"We noted the report. The report reveals the US government's hegemonic, domineering and bullying practices of spreading disinformation and interfering in other countries’ internal affairs through cyberspace, engaging in indiscriminate cyber surveillance and espionage and cyberattacks against key infrastructure in other countries, and disrupting global supply and industrial chains. China urges the US to reflect on its behavior, abide by international rules and stop endangering peace, stability and security in cyberspace," said Lin.
