Nearly 500 students from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries are learning about traditional Chinese culture at the ongoing 2024 "Chinese Bridge" Spring Camp for Students from SCO Countries in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The spring camp opened on Monday, and will last for 15 days.

During the spring camp, students from eight SCO member states, including India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran, will visit four universities in Xinjiang, carry out social activities and experience traditional Chinese tea ceremony and calligraphy.

"[The activity] is very good and I am very interested in it. This is my first time to do [tea ceremony]. At first, I don't know how to [use the tools], and our teacher taught us. I learned more about Chinese tea culture," said Muhammad Ismail, a student from University of Karachi in Pakistan.

"I plan to study in China and wish to get admitted to a Chinese university, so I want to talk more with Chinese people. [Through] this activity, I felt that China is great and profound. I am very happy that I've learned a lot here," said Ailee, a student of Astana No.5 Middle School of Kazakhstan.

The spring camp is sponsored by the Chinese and Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It provides a platform for young people from SCO countries to learn Chinese and appreciate Chinese culture.
