China opposes US groundless accusations against normal China-Russia trade

China is firmly opposed to the United States' groundless accusations against normal economic and trade exchanges between China and Russia, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a routine press conference in Beijing on Tuesday.

Wang was requested to comment on media reports saying U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will tell Chinese officials that the U.S. and its allies are becoming increasingly impatient with China's refusal to stop providing Russia with everything from chips to cruise missile engines to help rebuild its industrial base during his visit to China this week.

"While the United States has introduced massive aid bills to Ukraine, it has also made groundless accusations against normal economic and trade exchanges between China and Russia. This act is extremely hypocritical and irresponsible. China is firmly opposed to that," Wang said.

"On the Ukrainian issue, China has taken an objective and just position, made active efforts to promote peace talks and worked for a political settlement. China has always controlled the export of dual-use items in accordance with laws and regulations. China is neither the one that created the Ukraine crisis nor a party to it. It has never added fuel to the fire, nor profited from the crisis, and will not accept the blame-shifting game. We must point out that China's right to have normal economic and trade exchanges with countries around the world, including Russia, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit should not be impeded or undermined. China's legitimate rights and interests brook no violation," Wang said.

"Fanning the flames, smearing others or shifting the blame is not the right way to resolve the Ukraine issue. We remind the U.S. that the only correct choice is to accommodate the legitimate concerns of all parties, and foster a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture through dialogue and negotiation," he said.

French student calls for more educational exchanges with China

2024-05-04 04:20 Last Updated At:06:17

A French student from the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Beijing Foreign Studies University recently called for more educational exchanges between the two countries.

During an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), Bouaoud Elies shared his experience living and studying in China.

After graduating from the business school at Beijing Foreign Studies University, Elies decided to stay in the country. He said he continues to study Chinese to improve his competitiveness and explore the huge trade opportunities between the two countries.

"I mean I love it here. I don't want to go back to France. I would like to become the bridge between France and China. So, if I can do this, thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative, the Silk Road, now the relations between France and China are very good. So, I think a lot of things will happen," he said.

Elies also said he hopes that more French students could visit China and develop a better understanding of the country.

France was the first major western country to establish full diplomatic ties with China, and the history of educational exchanges can be traced back more than a century and a half when China sent its students to France to study maritime affairs.

Since then, exchanges have deepened considerably.

"In China, we have established 14 French training centers. In France, we have established 19 Confucius Institutes. These institutions serve as bridges for mutual understanding and trust between the youth and people of the two countries, enhancing language and cultural connections," said Yang Dan, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges under the Ministry of Education.
