Organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a high-level symposium opened in Beijing on Friday to discuss China-Europe relations in a changing world.   Gao Xiang, president of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, addressed the opening ceremony attended by guests from both home and abroad.   Three parallel forums are also being held to chart a development blueprint for deepening economic cooperation and promoting mutual understanding between China and Europe. The current global landscape will also be discussed at these forums.   "China-EU cooperation has stood the test of time over half a century. Bilateral relations are becoming increasingly mature and stable. It is of great significance that almost a hundred scholars from dozens of countries and regions could get together to discuss bilateral ties in the changing world – thereby strengthening traditional friendships and consolidating cooperative consensus," said Gao.   "China's relationship with the EU is very different from America's relationship with the EU. The EU has an interest in strong economic ties with China more than America does. We need to work together and overcome problems together," said Charles Grant, director of the Center for European Reform.
