Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Beijing on Friday.

Wang said the two sides should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, and promote bilateral cooperation in terms of both drug control and law enforcement.

Wang noted that the U.S. side should take practical steps to resolve issues including unjustifiable harassment, interrogation and deportation of Chinese students, smearing of China's normal international law enforcement cooperation, and the setting up of barriers hampering people-to-people exchanges.

The U.S. side should inject positive energy into bilateral relations, Wang said.

The two sides agreed to strengthen communication in relevant areas.

China’s four high-speed railways to adjust fares

2024-05-08 09:07 Last Updated At:09:37

Four high-speed railways in China will have their fares adjusted beginning on June 15, according to China's online railway ticket-booking platform 12306.

According to Huang Xiaodun, director of the transportation management department of Wuhan-Guangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line Co. Ltd, this fare adjustment mainly concerns the EMU (electric multiple unit) trains operating at speeds of 300 kilometers per hour and above on certain sections connecting Wuhan and Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Ningbo, Shanghai and Hangzhou, as well as Hangzhou and Changsha.

Higher ticket prices and lower discounted fares will be offered, according to the platform.

The price will vary based on factors such as season, date, time slot and seat class.

It is said that the existing single fare mechanism is inadequate for the current market-oriented railway operational landscape.

Huang said a flexible and competitive pricing system will enhance the diversity of passenger transport options.
