China is nearing another step towards an era with three carriers in commission as its newest aircraft carrier, the Fujian, began the maiden sea trials on Wednesday morning.

The Fujian, which is equipped with more new technologies including the electromagnetic aircraft launch system, left the Shanghai Jiangnan Shipyard at around 08:00, to primarily test the reliability and stability of its propulsion and electrical systems.

Since its launch in June 2022, the aircraft carrier has completed its mooring trials, outfitting work and equipment adjustments. It has met the technical requirements for sea trials.

Named after the eastern Chinese province, the Fujian was completely designed and built by China. It features a full-length, flat flight deck with an advanced catapult-launch system for jets, with a full-load displacement of more than 80,000 tonnes.

It is China's third aircraft carrier, after the Liaoning and the Shandong.

China Media Group (CMG)'s first production base dedicated to producing TV programs about China's high-quality development was launched on Tuesday in Guangzhou in south China's Guangdong Province.

The new production base, called the "Window of Southern Guangdong", will support the deepening partnership between the CMG and the province. It will enable the creation of a series of high-quality TV programs and key projects, further promoting the high-quality development of the broader Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

At the unveiling ceremony, the CMG Guangdong Station inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation with the province's commerce and cultural and tourism departments, aiming to launch various activities with local characteristics that will promote consumption.

The station will also cooperate with the Guangzhou Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau to produce a documentary capturing images of Guangzhou, which will chronicle the city's vigorous efforts in driving the transformation of its old neighborhoods, and present the touching stories behind these changes.
