The China Media Group (CMG) on Tuesday sent its first batch of broadcasting equipment to France as it gears up to provide comprehensive coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics, with 80 days to go until the opening ceremony of the highly-anticipated sports extravaganza.

Setting sail from the Zhoushan Port in Ningbo City of east China's Zhejiang Province, the 10 containers loaded with 1,256 boxes of media equipment are scheduled to arrive at the northern French port of Le Havre in mid-to-late June.

This first shipment mainly involves equipment for general control transmission, studio video and audio, network producing and broadcasting, graphic packaging, editorial work, lighting, telecommunications and power support. The remainder of corresponding equipment and materials will be transported to France across land via the China-Europe Railway Express as well as by air freight.

As China and France this year celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, the CMG is planning its largest-ever broadcast assignment at this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.

As one of the main national broadcasters for the Paris Olympic broadcast program, the CMG will air, distribute and process more than 11,000 hours of high-quality event signals through its TV channels, radio bands and new media platforms. It will also realize the first full overseas 4K ultra-high-definition broadcast production.

The Chinese media enterprise will send a team comprised of more than 2,000 personnel to France for the production of international public signals for four events, namely gymnastics, table tennis, badminton and rock climbing, completing more than 400 hours of live broadcasting during these sporting disciplines.

The CMG has rented a 1,500-square-meter workspace at the International Broadcasting Center of the Paris Olympics where it will establish an all-media reporting center and build three broadcast studios providing anchored coverage, interviews, and new media content production. It will also install an external studio featuring a backdrop of the iconic Eiffel Tower.

Dozens of integrated media reporting teams from the CMG will be working on-site at each competition venue to bring audiences the latest Olympic developments right from the heart of the action.

In addition to a significant investment in manpower and equipment, the CMG will also fully utilize its state-of-the-art and innovative technologies at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

With the application of 5G Internet technology, the CMG media cloud, a top-level time slicing system, Audio Vivid standard coding and first-rate artificial intelligence, the media group seeks to accomplish a slick presentation of Olympic events and deliver high-quality video and audio on TV and mobile screens, demonstrating its strong technological innovation capability.

By building a multi-channel, multi-terminal integrated media matrix for all-round, 3D-coverage, the CMG says it is well-prepared to present an audio-visual feast to viewers around the world with its world-class sports event production and broadcasting capability and its "5G+4K/8K+AI" multimedia content system.

The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place in the French capital from July 26 to Aug. 11, and will be followed by the Paralympic Games from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
