China Media Group (CMG) and Radio Television of Serbia (PTC) held a cultural exchange activity in Belgrade, capital of Serbia, on Tuesday, on the occasion of Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the country.
At the invitation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Xi arrived in Belgrade on Tuesday to pay a state visit to Serbia, eight years after his last visit to the European country.
Vucic delivered a video message to the event to extend his congratulations on the success of the event.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said Serbia is willing to work with Chinese media, including the CMG, to further deepen exchanges and cooperation, tell good stories highlighting the mutual benefit and friendship between the two countries, and maintain the vigorous development momentum of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China.
Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of the CMG, referred to Serbia as China's iron-clad friend. He said that the CMG has collaborated with multiple Serbian mainstream media outlets to produce and broadcast documentaries, launch various programs, and organize cultural events such as the "China Image" screening.
He emphasized that in the next step, the CMG intends to expand its cooperation with the Office for Media Relations of the President of the Republic of Serbia, the PTC, and other Serbian news agencies. He expressed the willingness to further broaden the channels of cultural exchanges between the two countries and inject new impetus into promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Nikola Selakovic, minister of culture of Serbia, spoke highly of the important role played by media cooperation in enhancing friendship and mutual trust and strengthening people's common feelings. He expressed the expectation that the news media of both countries would continue to expand the scope of cooperation, diversify the forms of collaboration, and work together to create a bright future of win-win cooperation.
Vladimir Orlic, former speaker of the Serbian parliament, extended his appreciation to the CMG for supplying a series of excellent TV programs for Serbia, which have enabled the Serbian people to have a deeper understanding of the splendid Chinese civilization. He expressed the hope that the news media of the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation and bring people's hearts closer.
Dragan Bujosevic, director of the PTC, said that China is the only country that has a fixed documentary broadcast time on the PTC. Two documentaries jointly produced with the PTC and the CMG were broadcast in the 'China Image' screening held in his country recently, which became another successful example of media cooperation between Serbia and China. He expressed his expectation that the two sides could continue to deepen cooperation in the future, jointly produce more excellent works, and showcase the thriving friendship between Serbia and China to the rest of the world.
In his video speech, Li Ming, the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, pointed out that the cultural exchange event is being held at a high time during Chinese President Xi Jinping's current state visit to Serbia. In recent years, cultural exchanges between China and Serbia have become increasingly frequent. Li expressed the hope that Chinese and Serbian news media will strengthen exchanges and build a bridge for emotional and spiritual connections between the Chinese and Serbian peoples.
During the event, two documentaries jointly produced by the CMG and the PTC were officially launched.
The "China Image" screening, jointly hosted by the CMG and the PTC, was launched in Belgrade on April 25. A dozen CMG-produced documentaries and TV programs, including "In Search of Walter," "Qinling Train No. 6063," "Human Carbon Footprint," are aired on the PTC, revealing the vitality of China in the new era and telling stories of China-Serbia friendship to the local audience.
Some characters of the documentaries were invited to share their special feelings with China at the event.
In efforts to further deepen practical cooperation, the CMG signed a memorandum of cooperation with the National Tourism Organization of Serbia. The two sides pledged to cooperate in joint production of programs, joint planning for projects, and the holding and promotion of activities.
Commemorative stamps were also issued on the day of the event. The commemorative stamp was jointly designed and issued by the CMG, the Post of Serbia and the Cultural Center of Belgrade.
