Thousands of Serbian people gathered in Belgrade on Wednesday morning to welcome the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Xi was on a state visit to Serbia from Tuesday to Wednesday at the invitation of his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic.

People came to Belgrade from all over the country, cheering and waving the national flags of Serbia and China. Speaking to a reporter from the China Media Group (CMG), many expressed their warm feelings for the Chinese president and hailed the close ties between the two countries.

"We love your president. We very welcome Chinese people," said one resident.

"I think it's a nice gift and a nice gesture. We are welcoming the friendly country and also the friendly president for us, and of course we are remembering everything China did to us in our very difficult and tough times. It's a very specific moment for us. The Serbs are not forgetting anything, never," said another.

People in the crowd also sent their greetings to Chinese viewers as they talked to the CMG reporter and sent a clear message: Serbia welcomes Chinese visitors.

Angola's Luachimo Hydroelectric Power Station, built by China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd., was officially completed in the Lunda Norte Province of Angola last Friday, with more than 150 people including Minister of Energy and Water of Angola, Joao Baptista Borges, attending its inauguration ceremony.

On that day, Joao Baptista Borges personally pressed the main button for the operation of the generating unit and fully affirmed the construction level and quality of the project. He said that the Chinese-built hydropower station plays an important role in promoting the energy transformation and the development of agriculture, livestock, as well as mining sectors in the country.

The hydropower plant is a livelihood project in response to the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, and it is also an important component of the power supply system in the Lunda Norte Province. It has created a total of 3,000 direct employment opportunities for the local community and benefits nearly 200,000 residents.
