China Media Group (CMG), together with the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund of Hungary, held a cultural exchange activity in Budapest on Wednesday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Several projects, including the broadcasting of CMG's programs in Hungary, co-production of documentaries and CMG's cooperation with the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, were launched at the event.

Former Hungarian President Pal Schmitt said that over the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, mutual trust, mutual support and friendly cooperation have continuously deepened.

He said that as a Hungarian member of the International Olympic Committee and a former Olympic champion, he is particularly pleased to see that China, besides achieving remarkable results in culture, science, economy and other fields, is also increasingly influential in the field of sports.

Schmitt said that the activity serves as a model for cooperation between media outlets from Hungary and China, adding that he's looking forward to CMG contributing more positive factors to deepen and broaden the extensive friendly relationship between the two countries, further narrow the distance between the people of the two countries, and promote continuous new developments in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Shen Haixiong, CMG president, also gave a speech at the event.

Prominent figures from the political, economic, cultural, artistic, academic and media circles of both countries attended the event.

China adds some U.S. companies to unreliable entities list

2024-05-20 15:16 Last Updated At:15:37

China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday the inclusion of some companies on its unreliable entities list as they sold arms to China's Taiwan region.

The companies include General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, General Dynamics Land Systems, and Boeing Defense, Space and Security. They will be barred from engaging in China-related import or export activities, and are forbidden to make new investments in China, the ministry said.

Senior executives of the companies are prohibited from entering China, while their work permits will be revoked, along with their visitor and residential status, and the related applications they submit will not be approved, according to the ministry.

"Such measures are being taken to safeguard China's national sovereignty, security and development interests," it said.

The ministry also said there was evidence that Caplugs of the United States circumvented the unreliable entities list regulations by transferring goods purchased from China to the unreliable entities.

The ministry urged Caplugs to take measures as soon as possible to ensure that all relevant goods, technologies and services purchased from China are not transferred to the unreliable entities, and that relevant evidentiary material be submitted to the office of the unreliable entities list as per the working mechanism.

Otherwise, the ministry said, the office will take measures against it in accordance with the laws and regulations.
