The Hungarian version of "The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping," a multilingual TV program featuring Chinese President Xi Jinping's quotes from ancient Chinese classics in his speeches and articles, began airing on Hungarian media outlets on Wednesday.
A launch ceremony for the program, produced by China's flagship broadcaster China Media Group (CMG), was held in Budapest, capital of Hungary, on the same day when Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived for a state visit to the Central European country.
At the invitation of Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok and Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Xi is on a state visit to Hungary, the last leg of his current three-nation European tour, which has also taken him to France and Serbia.
Focusing on the themes including common prosperity and green development, the program vividly presents Xi's political wisdom and rich knowledge of history and traditional Chinese culture and showcases the cultural origins and fruitful results achieved from Chinese modernization.
The program and its promotional video have been aired by other media outlets across Europe and around the world, including the pan-European news channel Euronews and France's BFM Business.
Former Hungarian president Pal Schmitt attended the launch ceremony and congratulated the producer on the broadcasting of the program in the country.
Peter Medgyessy, former Hungarian prime minister, also delivered a congratulatory message via video.
They believe that through media communication, Hungary and China can enhance exchanges in experience of national governance and social development.
Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, and Daniel Papp, chief executive of Hungary's Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA), announced the launch of the Hungarian version of the TV program at the launch ceremony.
In his speech, Shen said he believes that the premiere of the program in Hungary can open a window of thought for Hungarian people to understand Xi's wisdom in governance and understand Chinese culture, thereby helping them understand the unique charm of China in the new era.
Shen said CMG is willing to join those in Hungary to promote people-to-people exchanges and friendship between the two countries and promote cultural mutual learning so as to write a new chapter in China-Hungary friendly cooperative relations.
