China's first competition focusing on data element development and application kicked off in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province on Thursday.
The National Data Administration (NDA) jointly organized and implemented this competition called "Data Element X" with 15 other departments including the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Commerce.
The competition aims to unleash the multiplier effects of data element empowerment in solving practical problems, officials said.
"We will bring out more scenarios, activates more entities, and enliven more data. By promoting research and application through competition, we can promote astronomical rise in data empowerment," said NDA head Liu Liehong.
The competition sets 12 topics of industrial manufacturing, modern agriculture, commerce and circulation, transportation, financial services, technological innovation, cultural tourism, medical healthcare, emergency management, meteorological services, urban governance, and green and low carbon development.
All kinds of entities, including public institutions, enterprises, research agencies and universities are encouraged to participate to win considerable investment funds and high-level business docking channels, and the national finals will be held in the fourth quarter of this year after regional rounds, according to officials.
