Farmers in Minle County along the Hexi Corridor in northwest China's Gansu Province are welcoming a good harvest in early fall.
The climate in most parts of the province is dry and unfavorable for plants, and Hexi Corridor is surrounded by inhospitable environment such as desert, snow-capped mountain and plateau.
Located along the north bank of the Yellow River, there are many fertile oases along the path, where wheat and barley among other food crops are grown.
As a major crop production base in the region, the Hexi Corridor has been a significant passageway of the ancient Silk Road, linking China to the rest of the world.
