Dying mom plans 17 years of gifts for her newborn daughter

Split by the happiness from the birth of her baby daughter and the devastating news that she was diagnosed of terminal breast cancer, the Italian new mother prepared Christmas and birthday gifts for 17 years for her daughter.

August 21, 2016 was supposed to be one of the most gratifying days for 40-year-old Elisa Girotto as she had just given birth to her daughter Anna, before she learned that she was terminally ill with breast cancer on the very same day. Despite the devastating news, this new mother decided not to be overshadowed by her disease and treasure every single day in the rest of her life. She married her partner in the same month and prepared something very special for Anna in hopes of accompanying her to grow up in another form.

Other than books, toys and stuffed dolls for Anna’s childhood, Elisa Girotto prepared some accessories for Anna’s 13th birthday, a secret diary for 14th birthday, as well as a globe and a traveling guide for her 17th birthday before she turns 18. With a tape recording of her voice each year and two notebooks full of motherly advice, Elisa hoped to guide Anna all the way through her childhood.

Elisa eventually lost her cancer battle and passed away last month, but certainly she left with no regrets.
