A woman who was bullied because of her birthmarks covered her body decided to stipped off and tell her story after years of struggling.
Lorena Bolanos, 24, from Queretaro, Mexico, has more than a dozen raised birthmarks, or moles and the largest one known as a giant congenital melanocytic nevus, which covers much of her body.
Her peers made fun of the way she looked and called her "Dalmatian" at her teenage. She was eve told by her classmate she should kill herself because of her appearance.
Lorena was in a deep depression during her first year of university. She felt ashamed to expose her birthmarks in public so she hid them with long-sleeved t-shirts and scarves despite the hot weather.
She revealed that she can overcome the hardship because she shared her experience on Instagram after seeing an online troll abuse another woman on Facebook about her appearance.
A beauty blogger was called by a man "mole disgusting". "'I thought to myself, she is so beautiful, how can anyone talk to people like this. It inspired me to take a photo of my own body in a bikini and put it on Instagram," she said.
Her post went viral quickly and she was then invited to the body confidence shoot for promoting body positivity.
Lorena shared her memory at her childhood, "When I was a little kid it wasn't a problem. My mom always said, "You're a healthy child don't worry about it.
"It was when I started school that it got really terrible. I was so uncomfortable.
"Kids would stare at me and they started calling me "Dalmatian" which was so hurtful and cruel. It made me feel so bad about myself.
"I would come home from school and just cry with my mom. When I was a teenager, I just didn't have relationships. I wasn't confident enough.
"In middle school I was lucky to have a group of really supportive friends but in high school, everything changed."
Lorena flew to Santa Monica to be photographed by Amy for the project in March.
She said she was terrified but Amy made her feel so comfortable.
Lorena has now grown to be confident about what she wears even she has to protect her skin from the sun to ease the higher possibility of having skin cancer.
