While it's now summer, a beautiful swimsuit can help you become the highlight in the crowd. When girls are bothering what kind of swimsuit can win the eyesight of the public, the brand The Black Tape Project broke the traditional rule to create "tape bikini" and showed at Miami Swim Week since last Sunday (15th July).
The Black Tape Project was founded by photography Joel Alvarez who set up the brand by sticking tapes in different shapes and colours on models' body directly to create the unique bikinis.
Diverse cutting patterns, avant-garde designs and various styles, all are reasons people to go see the show. However, models in such the sexy outfits are also the spots of the event.
The tapes can barely cover the models' breasts and their private parts, which many netizens say they can imagine how painful it can be when they got the tapes torn off.
Joel had his first idea of tape bikini in 2008 when he was taking pictures for a model who had asked him to stick tapes on her body. He started with a roll of black thin wire tape.
He said his first design was like a "wrapping Christmas tree", which is not aesthetic, but the experience ignited his design potential to initiate the "cut and paste" work on models.
Joel's creations were only appreciated by nightclubs at first until he attended a charity function to design for Miss Puerto Rico in Haiti and was captured.
He was then known by many people and interviewed by local radio and magazines.
Even though now being famous, he received varied comments towards his works. Some think that they are artistic while some say those designs are erotic and exaggerating.
