Cow born with 2 mouths and 4 eyes, caused by freak mutation

An extraordinary mutant four-eyed calf was born in China, in the remote village of Donggou, in north-western Shaanxi province, with an extra head and mouth which it is able to feed with.

Villager Feng Wenhong, the owner of this bizarre calf, said that: "All the other calves [from the same mother] were very normal. They brought our family about £676 to £789 income.

"I didn't notice it at first. I thought the calf's head was just bigger than usual, but as I walked closer I realised it had two heads.

"It can drink from both mouths and seems to be quite stable, but the poor thing can't stand."

Unsurprisingly, the six-year-old cow's latest calf has become something of a must-see attraction for neighbouring villagers, who have all come to Feng's farm to see the mutated animal first hand.

Wu Wei, the deputy head of the Qindu District Forestry Station, said the cow's condition was almost certainly caused by a gene mutation during its developmental phase while still inside its mother's uterus.

Sadly, Wu also notes that conjoined animals like these do not tend to live long.
