Apparently, just tattooing himself isn't permanent enough of a body modification to this eccentric tattoo artist.
'Kalaca Skull', a 22-year-old young man, whose real name is Eric Yeiner Hincapié Ramírez, is a tattoo artist from Colombia.
Claiming that he had been fascinated with skulls and skeletons from a young age, he had countless tattoos done on himself, including painful tattoos on his head. However, he didn't stop there.
After his mother, who had previously disapproved of any extreme bodily modifications, passed away, he underwent several gruesome procedures to achieve what he deems as 'skull-like' features, such as surgically removing half his nose and mutilating his earlobes.'
Additionally, he cut his tongue in half and tattooed it a dark-blue colour, and had black eye-sockets tattooed around his eyes.
When interview by a local Colombian web reporter, he explained that one of his reasons for transforming himself into looking like a skull was because it is an appearance that "we all share underneath our skin and in death."
When asked about how society disapproves of his extreme bodily alterations, he says, "Body modifications are a personal decision and should not be judged.
"It is like judging a woman for getting breast or buttock implants. For me, a skull is like my sister, a part of my family really, I feel very attached to them.
"I am a normal person who just happens to look a lot different than most other people," he adds.
"It's like a different way of thinking, of dressing, a different style of music. I just feel good the way I am."
