Why can't people living under the same roof ever seem to get along...

Recently, two Thai female students were found dead in a student apartment at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA, with multiple stab wounds. Results from forensic investigation speculated that one of them murdered the other before committing suicide.

According to local reports, the 25-year-old Kornkamol Leenavarat and the 32-year-old Thiti-orn Chotchuangsap arrived in the United States at the end of August this year, but after Kornkamol's family lost contact with their daughter for an extended period of time, they called the apartment manager to check-in. To the manager's shock, two corpses were found inside the apartment when he went inside on the 4th of September.

Autopsy results showed that the two women had died on the 1st of September, where Kornkamol died of multiple stab wounds and Thiti-orn of a single stab in the chest. After further investigation, the police determined that Thiti-orn had committed suicide after murdering her roommate with the same weapon.

The details of the case had not yet been made public, but according to insider sources, there was a dormitory dispute between the two individuals.

Thai media reports that the victim, Kornkamol, came from a political family in Thailand. She is the youngest daughter of Pawawin, the former deputy mayor of Thanyaburi in the province of Pathum Thani, Thailand. She is also the niece of the current mayor.

Kornkamol's brother, Weerasak, said that the family had no objections to the results of the forensic investigation and intended to transport his sister's body back to Thailand.

The perpetrator, Thiti-orn, is from Samut Sakhon, Thailand. Online search results reveal that she is one of the directors of a food processing company "Pornsiri Power".

Ana Mari Cauce, the president of the University of Washington, has confirmed that both individuals were students of their law school. Cauce said that the case was a heartbreaking loss to their family, friends and the community as a whole, and she expressed her condolences on behalf of the school.

She also said that the local police station clearly pointed out that the dispute was strictly between the two, and should hold no further risk for the community. Additionally, Cauce encourages college students to ask for assistance should they face any troubles or problems. "The impact of such a tragedy may be far-reaching, so I encourage any members of the Washington University community who need comfort or help to contact the University of Washington Counselling Center or visit our student life website for more resources."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Actor Ashley Judd and singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc, who both lost loved ones to suicide, on Tuesday helped the Biden administration promote its new national strategy to prevent suicide.

Judd's mother, country star Naomi Judd, died nearly two years ago. Blacc's frequent collaborator, Tim Bergling, died in 2018.

Both were on hand as Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, helped unveil the Democratic administration's blueprint for reducing suicides in the United States. Some 132 people a day kill themselves, he said.

“We’re here today because we know that we can and will change this,” Emhoff said. “Suicide is preventable.”

Judd's mother had lived most of her 76 years with an untreated sickness and, on the day she died, “the disease of mental illness was lying to her," Ashley Judd said during a discussion moderated by Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy with Blacc and Shelby Rowe, executive director of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center.

“She deserved better,” Judd said about her mother. Judd said she also has suffered from depression and has had a different outcome because of treatment.

“I carry a message of hope,” she said.

Asked what people can do to help someone in crisis, Rowe said people shouldn't worry about “if you're saying the right thing. Just say something and show up.”

Blacc suggested that people offer a “moment of joy” when they do reach out, such as a memory that sparks laughter or a song. He also encouraged people to remember that they are “the light.”

“There's no such thing as too much love. Let's give as much as we can," he said, before he led the audience in singing the chorus from “This Little Light of Mine.”
