Markets Right Now: Stocks open higher on Wall Street

Stocks are opening broadly higher on Wall Street as the market extends its winning streak.

If the gains early Tuesday hold, the benchmark S&P 500 index will have risen for six out of the past seven days.

Retailers and banks rose more than the rest of the market.

Michaels Companies rose 7.8 percent after turning in strong quarterly results. JPMorgan Chase rose 1.1 percent.

The S&P 500 index rose 11 points, or 0.4 percent, to 2,844.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 119 points, or 0.5 percent, to 26,032. The Nasdaq gained 41 points, or 0.5 percent, to 7,756.

Bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury rose to 2.63 percent.
