Thousands of indigenous Brazilians are marching in the country's capital city to protest ministerial changes they say are hurting their people.

The march Friday is part of a three-day annual event known as the Free Land Encampment.

This year, the campout is focusing its message on Brazil's far-right president and his decision to attach the agency supervising indigenous affairs to the Agriculture Ministry and a new ministry for family, women and human rights led by an ultraconservative evangelical pastor.

It was previously under the Justice Ministry.

President Jair Bolsonaro has also vowed to back businesses that want to expand their operations in protected indigenous areas.

The march in Brasilia was attended by indigenous leaders from different regions across the country who wore traditional feathered headdresses and body paint.
