Zhang Jiaqi and Lu Wei won the women's 10-meter platform synchro event at the world swimming championships on Sunday as Chinese divers continued their dominance by claiming their fifth straight gold medal.
Competing at their first world event, Zhang and Lu dominated the event from the onset, winning with 345.24 points.
"It was the first worlds for both of us, we were very nervous indeed. We encouraged each other before and after each dive. That helped us a lot," the 15-year-old Zhang said.

"We had two big mistakes in the easy dives this morning, so we took time to check out the problems through watching video. We improved in the final and we won the championship."
Malaysian veteran Mun Yee Leong and Pandelela Pamg won the silver with 312.72 points.
Samantha Bromberg and Katrina Young came from behind in the fifth and final dive to win bronze with 304.86 points.

"We were excited to get the Olympic qualification and finished third at last," Young said.
"In fact, we were very nervous before the last dive, which was our favorite. But when we were on the platform, we concentrated on our own dive, not the others," Young said.
Earlier, 17-year-old debutant Wang Zongyuan claimed China's fourth gold when he won the men's 1-meter springboard with 440.25 points.

Rommel Pacheco Marrufo of Mexico secured 420.15 for silver while defending champion Peng Jianfeng of China finished third with 415 points.
