Final preparations for the upcoming 135th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, are in full swing, with the fair set to take place in Guangzhou, China's major trade hub city, from April 15 to May 5.

Currently, at the fair venue in the southern Chinese city, some exhibitors have already set up their booths and displayed their products, including new energy vehicles, ready to attract the interest of overseas customers.

"More than 90 percent of our clients have been acquired through the Canton Fair. The fair has been a cornerstone for us; otherwise, we wouldn't have kept participating in the event for the past 20 years. This time, we are showcasing more than 70 samples, including over 20 new products specially prepared just in time for this fair," said a Niu Liangjun, an exhibitor from an appliances company.

In addition, many foreign merchants also wish to use this Canton Fair as a platform to introduce their products to the global market.

"Our company is around 26 years old and we have 36 factories in Egypt. We've already come to the Canton Fair 22 times until now. This time, the fair is well-organized, and I feel it is a good time to meet new customers," said Michael Maurice, an exhibitor from an Egyptian home appliances company.

So far, various services such as logistics, warehousing, testing and certification, as well as financial and insurance services, are all in place and ready for the start of the Canton Fair which is expected to feature over 3,000 high-end exhibitors.

The commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces Oleksandr Syrsky said on Sunday that the position on the frontline had deteriorated and that Russia had made a number of battlefield gains.

Russia has been "attacking along the entire front line" and has achieved "tactical success in some sectors", Syrsky posted on the social media platform Facebook.

Ukraine is consulting with partners to ensure it received ammunition, weapons and other military equipment as soon as possible, Syrsky added.

Russia has made no responses to the Ukrainian statement so far.
