Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) director Kathi Vidal in Beijing on Monday, with both sides vowing to step up cooperation in intellectual property.
Ding, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden have opened a "San Francisco vision" for China-U.S. ties.
He called on the two countries to earnestly implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, and turn the vision into reality, so as to better benefit the two countries and their people.
Noting that China has all along attached high importance to intellectual property protection, Ding said that the country stands ready to work together with the United States to expand pragmatic cooperation in the field of intellectual property, resolve each other's concerns, and create a fair, equitable, and non-discriminatory business environment, so as to make even greater contribution to the steady development of bilateral relationship.
For her part, Vidal said that the USPTO values intellectual property cooperation with China, and is willing to strengthen dialogue, exchanges and enhance cooperation with China to deliver quality services to innovation entities and better realize the industrial application of scientific and technological advances.
