Multiple ports in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) have seen record travelers and visitors in April due to surging cultural, sports and trade events held in south China's Guangdong Province.

Pazhou Ferry Terminal has registered peak travel activity with the 135th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, in full swing.

The Pazhou Ferry Terminal connecting Guangzhou with Hong Kong International Airport and Tsim Sha Tsui, is near the China Import and Export Fair Complex (the Canton Fair Complex for short), making it easier for international visitors to get to the venue during the fair, which is set to be held from April 15 to May 5.

Customs authorities in Guangdong Province have adopted measures to facilitate people's entry. Smart inspection devices are used to ensure speedy and smooth clearance of passengers.

"We have also set up Canton Fair channels to facilitate clearance for participants of the Canton Fair," said Xu Yue, deputy director of the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center Customs of Guangzhou Customs District.

Gongbei Port in Zhuhai City in south China's Guangdong Province saw a surge in the number of both inbound and outbound travelers on last Saturday.

A total of 358,000 trips were made at the port on that day, hitting a four-year high. Two additional inspection halls were opened to handle the passenger flow.

"Ever since April, both Guangzhou and Zhuhai have seen a surge in cultural, sports and trade events and travels, which has driven the development of tourism industry in the two cities. That explains the increase in the number of inbound and outbound travelers during holidays and weekends," said Yi Min, deputy director of the border inspection station at Gongbei Port.

The commander-in-chief of Ukraine's armed forces Oleksandr Syrsky said on Sunday that the position on the frontline had deteriorated and that Russia had made a number of battlefield gains.

Russia has been "attacking along the entire front line" and has achieved "tactical success in some sectors", Syrsky posted on the social media platform Facebook.

Ukraine is consulting with partners to ensure it received ammunition, weapons and other military equipment as soon as possible, Syrsky added.

Russia has made no responses to the Ukrainian statement so far.
