The presence of more than 60 Chinese-invested companies in South Africa has provided more than 1,000 jobs in the host country.

On Tuesday, Chinese-invested enterprises in South Africa, including the Bank of China, are gathered at the Gallagher Convention Center in Midrand for the Job Fair 2024, organized by the South Africa-China Economic and Trade Association.

It's a major boost to a nation that is battling high levels of unemployment.

"There will be 1,000 people leaving here today with jobs, with contracts for them to go and start jobs. So that is huge. And when you talk about 1,000 people leaving with jobs, it means you are talking about 1,000 families that have benefited from this," said Maropene Ramokgopa, Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.

Building on the achievements of last year's fair, this edition emphasized the two countries' shared goals of creating high-quality jobs and promoting sustainable economic development within South Africa.

"Chinese President Xi Jinping made his fourth state visit to South Africa in August 2023. During his visit, he and President Ramaphosa reached an important consensus on helping South Africa's socio-economic and education development. What's happening here today is an important measure to put that consensus into action," said Li Zhigang, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa.

Many cultural and natural scenic spots across China are witnessing a tourism boom during the five-day May Day holiday, as they provide entertaining events for tourists.

Nearly 10,000 tourists visited the Tulou cluster in Nanjing County of east China's Fujian Province on Thursday morning alone, according to the data from the cultural and tourism department.

At the Tulou, the glove puppetry show, an exciting national-level intangible cultural heritage, has been performed for the visitors.

On Wednesday, the first day of the holiday, the Mogao Grottoes scenic area in northwest China's Gansu Province received 12,000 visitors.

The Mogao Grottoes scenic area received a total of 12,000 visitors on Wednesday. Tickets for regular visits from Wednesday to Saturday have already sold out.

The scenic area continues to implement a real-name reservation system for time slots through online booking. Emergency tickets for visits are also available for pre-sale, and additional tour guides have been deployed to accommodate the large number of visitors and ensure quality service.

As a popular tourist attraction in southwest China's Sichuan Province, the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area has also welcomed a large number of visitors. On Wednesday alone, the number of tourists exceeded 13,000. As of 10:00 on Thursday, a total of 41,000 tickets were booked for the day, reaching the maximum capacity.

Jiuzhaigou is experiencing a season of renewal. The colorful lakes are shining under the sun.
