A grand thematic light show marking the 75th anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy illuminated the night sky of Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province on Saturday, captivating spectators with vibrant displays that eulogize the navy's development and achievements.
The event was held near Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center Wharf, with key locations like May Fourth Square and Fushan Bay also radiating in vibrant light, offering a visual amenity and decorating the city's landmarks as an unfolding tapestry.
This year's light show included elements such as the logo of the 19th annual meeting of the Western Pacific Naval Symposium, which is set to take place from Sunday to Wednesday in Qingdao, and national flags of the participating naval delegations, extending a warm welcome from China.
The light show has left indelible impression on the visitors, stirring their racing minds and reflections.
"I am a retired serviceman and I once served in a destroyer division of the PLA Navy. I come here almost every year after my discharge, to the place which is my second hometown and where I served, to witness the growth and strengthening of the PLA Navy. I wish my comrades safe trips as they pursue grand voyages across vast seas," said visitor Geng Wendi.
"I felt privileged to see the light show marking the 75th anniversary of the PLA Navy. The event filled me with great excitement, and the scene was specially spectacular. I wish for continuous perfection of our PLA Navy, prosperity of our nation and wellbeing of the Chinese people," said visitor Zhang Xuefeng.
"Watching the light show, I felt a surge of pride. Seeing the PLA Navy grow from weak to strong, from having only ordinary ships to owning Type 055 destroyers and aircraft carriers, I feel happy and proud of my country. We must strive to build a strong and prosperous nation with our own hands," said visitor Wang Zheng.
