German industry insiders who are attending the Hannover Messe, the world's largest industrial show, say that it is of vital importance to foster stronger cooperation in sustainable development with China as the two countries can share experience with each other when faced with a series of challenges amid industrial transformation.
The industrial trade fair kicked off on Monday with a clear emphasis on carbon-neutral production and hydrogen fuel cells.
The exhibition, focusing on "energizing a sustainable industry," runs until Friday and has attracted almost 4,000 exhibitors from around 60 countries and regions.
Among them, Chinese exhibitors accounted for 30 percent of the participants, second only to the host Germany, according to the organizer.
German firms, industrial clusters and professional agencies have extended welcome to their Chinese peers, expressing the hope that the two sides can exchange views on technological trends in the latest industrial fields and new cooperation opportunities.
"We have continued to expand our cooperation with China, especially in the fields of industrial technology innovation, climate protection, sustainable development, intelligent mobility and artificial intelligence (AI). China is making major breakthroughs [in the sectors mentioned above]. We can learn from each other and grow together," said Stephan A. Vogelskamp, managing director of automotiveland.nrw.
The booth of "Invest in China" has made its seventh consecutive appearance at the show, providing a panorama of cooperation between China and Germany for visitors.
Those who visited the booth said that there is huge potential for cooperation between the two sides in both traditional sectors such as mechanical manufacturing and automobiles and emerging sectors including digitalization and AI.
"Germany and China can learn from each other in many areas, especially at a time when the global economy is being rocked by trade disputes. Germany and its most important trading partner - China - should work together for fair competition and win-win cooperation on important occasions, including the Hannover Messe," said Volker Treier, chief executive of Foreign Trade with the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).
Established in 1947, the Hannover Messe is known as one of the leading industrial trade fairs worldwide.
