Chinese vice president meets Argentine FM

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Diana Mondino, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina, in Beijing on Monday.

Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership, Han said developing China-Argentina relations serves the long-term interests of the two nations and meets the expectations of the two peoples.

China is ready to work with Argentina to continue deepening mutual understanding and support, stand by each other in pursuing development, constantly elevate the level of political mutual trust, and push for steady and long-term bilateral practical cooperation, so as to deliver benefits to the people in both countries, Han said.

Mondino noted the sound development of Argentina-China ties in recent years and the importance of bilateral cooperation to Argentina.

Argentina is optimistic about China's development and appreciates China's important visions and propositions on global development, she said.

Argentina firmly upholds the one-China principle, hopes to continuously consolidate and expand cooperation with China on bilateral and multilateral occasions, and welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Argentina, Mondino said.

Mondino is on a visit to China from April 27 to May 1 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will attend a signing ceremony and meet the press in Beijing on Thursday.

At the invitation of Xi, Putin is paying a state visit to China from Thursday to Friday. This is Putin's first state visit after he was sworn in as Russian president for a new term.

Putin arrived in Beijing early Thursday morning.

As this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, Xi and Putin will exchange views on bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields, and international and regional issues of common concern during the visit, according to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
