A new batch of research samples brought back to Earth with the return capsule of China's Shenzhou-17 manned spaceship were delivered to the Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing on Wednesday.

The sixth batch of the research samples brought back from the Tiangong space station weighs 31.5 kilogram in total and involves 23 scientific experiment projects.

Among them are 32 kinds of life experiment samples including human bone cells, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, protein crystals, living organic molecules, and seeds, and 18 kinds of material samples including containerless materials, high-temperature materials, and extra-cabin exposure materials.

In the early morning on Wednesday, the life experiment samples were transferred to the CAS center in Beijing and handed to scientists, who will then conduct transcriptome sequencing, proteomics detection and other biological analysis, and search for new clues for disease prevention and intervention through the study of cell biological mechanisms in microgravity environment.

The scientists will also diffract proteins to obtain a more accurate three-dimensional structure of proteins and to study target proteins for technical support for drug development and vaccine development.

The return capsule of the Shenzhou-17 manned spaceship, carrying astronauts Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin, touched down at the Dongfeng landing site in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Tuesday.

The three-member Shenzhou-17 crew arrived in Beijing by plane early on Wednesday after a six-month space station mission.

Aspiring designers capture mood, spirit of time at 2024 Graduate Fashion Week

2024-05-21 17:27 Last Updated At:18:07

The six-day 2024 China Graduate Fashion Week, drawing to it over 1,000 young fashion designers from across the country, concluded in Beijing on Monday, with 62 young designers from 54 art schools of higher education presenting their graduation projects featuring the autumn-winter trend.

At the event, the fusion of traditional Chinese elements and modern design concepts shows students' boundless creativity and their aspirations for the future of fashion.

The closing ceremony saw ten students from universities including the Tsinghua University, the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and the Dalian Polytechnic University winning the 29th China Fashion Young Talent Award. "I name my creation after a famous ancient Chinese opera known as "Sweet Dream in the Garden" since it gives me a lot of inspiration. I adopted various color elements from it. I want to show the audience that traditional elements and modern dresses including Western suits can be well integrated with each other," said Chen Lingxin, a student from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, who won the 29th China Fashion Young Talent Award.

"Designers born after the year 2000 never follow trends. They prefer individuality. They are all active thinkers and sensitive observers. They know well how to express their unique personality. This is a form of contemporary fashion," said Li Yingjun, head of the Department of Textile, Fashion design at the Tsinghua University.
