All the competitions of the Yancheng leg of the 2024 Chinese Dragon Boat Race concluded on Monday, this year's Dragon Boat Festival or Duanwu Festival, producing 15 champions.

The competitions in Yancheng City of east China's Jiangsu Province were held from Saturday to Monday, coinciding with this year's Duanwu Festival holiday.

Thirty-six dragon boat teams from across the country participated in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 500-meter straight line races in Yancheng. They competed in five categories of Professional Men's Group, Professional Women's Group, Elite Open, Youth Men's Group and Youth Women's Group.

Teams from south China's Guangdong Province performed well in the competitions, with the Jiangmen Xinhui team winning the 200-meter Elite Open, and the Shunde Lecong Louvre Furnishings team winning the 200-meter Professional Men's Group.

The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar to commemorate ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan from the Warring States Period (475-221 B.C.).

During the festival, people usually hold dragon boat races, make sachets with herbs and make Zongzi -- a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.

China accelerates standardization of national medical insurance system

2024-07-18 21:36 Last Updated At:22:27

China established a working group Thursday to speed up the standardization of the country's medical insurance system.

The National Healthcare Security Administration has established a unified national medical insurance standard system and database. This has laid the foundation for on-the-spot settlement of cross-provincial outpatient medical bills for chronic and rare diseases.

"We have sorted out nearly 330,000 pay items nationwide, resulting in a total of 14,688 medical service items nationwide. This ensures that hospitals charge clearly for treatments and that patients understand how much they pay for medical services, " said Huang Huabo, deputy head of the National Healthcare Security Administration.

Huang said although they have made progress in standardization work, it still needs time to form a unified medical insurance system.

"China has established the world's largest healthcare security network, covering over 1.3 billion people. In order to actively adapt to the reform and development of medical insurance, the National Healthcare Security Administration is determined to establish a national unified, highly efficient, compatible, convenient, and secure medical insurance system," said Huang.
