Chinese Premier Li Qiang called for a closer global cooperation when meeting with Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab in Dalian on Tuesday.

Li said that it is very crucial to find new growth drivers when the recovery of the world economy is sluggish.

Li also said that future industries will be the most vitality forces for the global economic growth, and technological breakthroughs, represented by artificial intelligence (AI) , biotechnology, and green energy, will open up new fields and create new business forms with high growth.

China's proposal to carry out AI+ action is to inject strong impetus into economic development through the extensive empowerment of artificial intelligence, said Li.

Li said that the slowdown in world economic growth in recent years has a lot to do with the decoupling and disruption of industrial and supply chains and the building of walls and barriers by some countries.

Noting that economies grow together when connected, and decline when closed, Li said that the world must keep an open mind, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and work together to find new frontiers of economic growth.

Li also hoped the WEF continues to play a positive role in safeguarding economic globlization and free trade.

Schwab said that closer international cooperation is more important in a time of current complicated international situation.

The WEF is dedicated to carrying out close cooperation with China, promoting the sound and steady development of the global economy, and jointly dealing with global challenges, Schwab said.

China unveils first self-developed mega hot isostatic pressing equipment

2024-07-20 11:37 Last Updated At:12:07

China on Friday unveiled its first self-developed mega hot isostatic pressing (HIP) equipment, marking a significant breakthrough in the material manufacturing sector.

As the largest of its kind in China, this newly released HIP equipment excels in densifying and optimizing large and intricately shaped materials under ultra-high temperature and pressure.

The HIP is a key technology used in producing high-performance materials, significantly enhancing their wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties.

"In simple terms, this equipment transforms ordinary materials such as metal or porcelain into high-performance ones. Through HIP, material performance is greatly improved, and the average fatigue life of the material can be increased by at least ten times, meeting the needs of extreme working conditions," said Qi Wen, leader of the mega HIP equipment project.

With wide applications, the HIP technique is suitable for both metal and non-metal materials, such as porcelain or glass. This mega equipment will advance the development of China’s aerospace, oil and gas, and machinery manufacturing sectors, enhancing China's competitiveness in the international material manufacturing arena.
