China's second homegrown large cruise ship has entered an accelerated construction stage, with delivery expected by 2026, according to China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC).

The second ship, based in its home port of Guangzhou, is scheduled to start international journeys in 2027, according to the company.

Compared to the first domestically-built large cruise ship, the second ship will feature larger public spaces and more advanced amusement facilities. Its public area will increase by 735 square meters, and the outdoor activity space will expand by 1,913 square meters.

"After the second large cruise ship settles down in Guangzhou, we will improve our products, so as to showcase the culture of Lingnan area as well Guangzhou's distinctiveness. The ship will have a larger space and better facilities. Its route will mainly be oriented to Southeast Asia," said Yang Guobing, chairman of Adora Cruises with CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd.

Yang also said that by 2035, the number of cruise passengers in countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road is expected to exceed 14 million, spurring one-trillion-yuan investment including the construction of 100 new cruise ships.

Shanghai, China's financial hub, and several other eastern Chinese cities have been flooded due to Typhoon Pulasan, and drainage efforts are in full swing.

Pulasan, the 14th typhoon of the year, made its second landfall in Shanghai's Fengxian District at around 21:45 on Thursday after first making landfall earlier that day in Zhejiang Province.

Since midnight on Friday, parts of Shanghai's Pudong New Area have experienced increasingly heavy rainfall, resulting in flooded streets and temporary school closures.

Local authorities have intensified drainage efforts on waterlogged roads and in swamped neighborhoods.

Similarly, in neighboring Jiangsu Province, Rugao, a county-level city, was hit by a downpour from 7:00 to 17:00 on Friday. By 18:00, local firefighters had responded to more than 60 cases, carrying out drainage and rescue operations.
